New York 80’s Graffiti Exhibition in Paris
As copy and pasted with much respect and props to High Snobiety: “Graffiti New York 80’s is up and running at Paris’ Galerie Jerome de Noirnont. The show features a who’s who of famed 80’s bombers: A-ONE, Jean-Michel BASQUIAT, BLADE, Bill BLAST, CRASH, DONDI WHITE, FAB 5 FREDDY, FUTURA 2000, Keith HARING, RAMMELLZEE, and TOXIC. AsCurated puts it, “the show is all about the pioneering spirit of New York art during the decade.” We’ve been told that the above piece by Futura and Crash is going for 60,000 Euros.

Mattieux X Prophecy “Clenched Fists, Black Eyes”
A Prophecy X Mattieux colab. This shirt line creation is all about old style animation from the 40′s and 50′s, Skate and Old Tyme Hardcore. Prophecy’s concept deals with Old School Skating, Aggro and Soul Searching: a Zen Haiku paradox.
Shirts & Prints available late December.

The name of this colab is titled after 7 Second‘s song Clenched Fists, Black Eyes from Hardcore masterpiece LP “The Crew”.
“You say you’re scared, we’re not to blame,
‘Cos mindless violence ain’t our claim,
A new breed’s here, we’re gonna stay,
And break down all your shallow ways
‘Cos we are the new kids, We’ve got our heads,
We’ll keep on fighting, ‘Til old ways are dead.
Clenched fists, black eyes! (2x)
We’re aiming for a different goal,
Succeeding where the hippies failed.
But one thing’s sure and you can bet,
We’ll be more than a drugged-out threat!
We’ll keep on fighting, ‘Til old ways are dead.
Clenched fists, black eyes! (2x)”

Seb Lester’s Emer Swift Decals
Graphic designer and BMX rider and enthusiast Johann Chan approached Seb Lester to create the graphics for a bike frame he’s designed for bike company Emer Bicycles – the Emer Swift. Of the commission, Lester explains: “I was contacted earlier this year about designing the graphics for a new BMX frame, designed by Emer Bicycles. BMX was a big part of my life for the best part of ten years, and I still follow the scene, so I was really pleased to help out.
It seemed like a strong idea to make the letters out of the swooping flight path of a Swift with the inline treatment accentuating movement as well. The lettering style developed is a very modern, cursive, flourished script. Emer wanted the logo to look strong and robust, like the frame, so it’s got a solidly constructed feel to it without looking clunky.
“The logo took shape quickly,” Lester continues. “I always start with very loose spontaneous pen and paper sketches as it’s the quickest way to get ideas down. Once roughs were approved (some of his sketches shown below) I went about drawing the vector outlines. I’m pleased with the results. Emer seem to be too – they’ve produced a small run of tshirts, screen printed with the logo in a metallic gold ink, which look excellent.”
