One of my all time favorite skaters and a big source of inspiration when i was skating the most part of my day, Original Gangster skate legend, Jason Jessee, was immortalized by Shepard Fairey. Limited to only 200 prints, numbered and signed by both Shepard and Jesse, they were released on Obey Clothing. Can anyone send me one? I trade it for my bmx! C’moooon!

Kevin Cyr’s City Character Art
“In a culture in which people are easily lured by the appeal of status-enhancing symbols, I find beauty in derelict cars and unkempt landscapes. I commemorate commercial vehicles inundated with graffiti and rust, working vehicles, and well-traveled recreational vehicles. I find that there is so much character in old delivery trucks and vans — especially when covered with graffiti. Removing them from their everyday context gives them portrait-like importance. I paint with devoted attention to every imperfection and sign of age.” Kevin Cyr
Carlos Donjuan / Academia vs. Streets
Carlos Donjuan is Mexican American painter who will receive his Masters degree in art in May 2009. Donjuan’s paintings explore the tension between his Mexican roots and American cultures that he has experienced since moving to this country. Some of the ideas that Donjuan encounters are Catholicism vs. politics, illegal immigrants vs. U.S. citizenship, graffiti vs. the law, and academia vs. the streets. Portraits embedded with clues, symbols, and text creates a narrative about the ideas and struggles that Donjuan is trying to convey in his paintings. He creates his work with the skills that he has as a graffiti artist mixed with techniques that he has gained through painting.
Beautiful Losers by Aaron Rose
The Beautiful Losers documentary celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.
In the early 1990′s a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the shitstem art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.

Jean-Michel Basquiat, The Radiant Child

“The Radiant Child is a film about one of the most important visual artists in American history Jean-Michel Basquiat. The film was directed by the artists’ friend Tamara Davis, who started the task years ago, but decided to shelve the project after Basuiat’s tragic death. After 20 years the film debuted at this year’s Sundance Film festival. It is always good to get an intimate look at creative genius, and Basquiat represents the epitome of creativity.”
Via Street Level
Reebok will release its new version of their popular Pump Omni Lite silhouette for the 2010 Spring/Summer season. The kicks are a continuation of the collection that also included the Reebok Ex-O-Fit High & Freestyle “Basquiat”. Jean-Michel Basquiat has made a name in the 1980’s New York art scene from the streets as a graffiti artist. Basquiat’s work has recently caught the attention of Reebok with several sneaker releases inspired by the artist.
This new Basquiat design features a white/black colorway adorned of course with the classic “Basquiat” look and mood. The tongue’s Pump features Basquiat’s crown emblem, while the heels feature another crown on the left shoe and a black pen-like scribbles dappled on the right shoe. We will keep you posted when the Reebok Pump Omni Lite “Basquiat” release next year.
Via Bay Area Kicks
The Green-coated Reebok Runner designed by artist Jean Michel Basquiat is a one of a kind masterpiece. Aside from the luxury classic leather upper, the sneaker contains multiple texts on the midsole and insole. Basquiat also labeled the tongue with his name while Reebok branding is found on the heel and side panel which includes a miniature British flag. Did you ever wonder why it is called “Untitled”?

James Jirat Patradoon…. Damn!!!
One of my all times’ favorite graphic artists! James Patradoon keeps it all colour fresh and moving! So put on your shit-kickers and kick some shit!
Color derives from the spectrum of light interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors. The science of color is sometimes called chromatics. Incredible work. Nuuf said.
